Due Diligence – Commercial Due Diligence
Our Commercial Due Diligence (CDD) service provides a thorough evaluation of a target company’s commercial activities, assessing its markets, customers, competitors, and internal controls to validate business viability. Our structured “Ten Pillar” approach ensures a comprehensive analysis, covering Business Overview, External Market Criteria, and Internal Market Criteria.
Ten Pillar Commercial Due Diligence
Our Approach

We help our clients gain a deep understanding of their target companies through our structured “Ten Pillar” approach. This method is designed to address every critical aspect of the target business, starting with an in-depth Business Overview. Our services are designed to assess both External Market Criteria—such as market trends, competitor analysis, and industry positioning—and Internal Market Criteria, which includes reviewing operational efficiency, supply chain dynamics, and technology infrastructure.

Our deliverables include a Quality-Controlled Excel-based Databook and a detailed report addressing each of the ten pillars, which cover a wide range of factors, from PESTLE analysis (Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Legal, Environmental) to SWOT analysis that highlights strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Additionally, we use our Attractiveness Matrix to rank business units based on their appeal and competitive positioning within the industry.

Who It’s For
  • Family Office
  • Investment Banker (IB)
  • Private Equity Partner/Associate
  • Venture Capital
Commercial Due Diligence (“CDD”) provides investors with a clear, data-driven understanding of a target company before an acquisition or investment. It goes beyond financials to assess how the business operates, generates revenue, and competes within its market.

It supports private equity and corporate investors by evaluating the target’s positioning, growth prospects, and key risks to make confident, informed decisions. Whether you’re pursuing a new market, a platform investment, or a strategic bolt-on acquisition, our independent analysis brings the industry expertise, deal team bandwidth, and external perspective needed to validate the opportunity and uncover potential levers for value creation.

Commercial due diligence focuses on assessing a company’s market position, growth opportunities, and competitive advantages. It answers the question: Does this business have the right to win in its market?

Financial due diligence, on the other hand, verifies the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial information, ensuring the numbers support the story.

We collaborate closely with our clients, integrating our insights into strategic decision-making processes. By delivering clear analysis of market positioning, growth opportunities, and potential risks, we enable leadership teams to align post-deal integration efforts with the original investment thesis. This informed approach helps maximize value creation and supports sustainable long-term growth.
