Rob Hall

Rob is a seasoned business professional with a breadth of experience in life sciences, operational finance and investments. He began his career with Pasteur Mérieux Connaught Canada (now Sanofi Pasteur) and spent ten years working in progressive roles at the lab bench, in research management, and in contracts management. In 1999 he moved to the venture capital industry where he worked for BDC Venture Capital and later GrowthWorks, focusing on early-stage biotechnology firms. From 2010 to 2016 Rob was Vice President, Finance for htx.ca – the Health Technology Exchange, a government funded not-for-profit organization that provided debt financing to Ontario medical technology companies. In 2017 and 2018, Rob was Vice President, Finance and Administration for ventureLAB, the regional innovation centre and business incubator in York region. He has also been a senior executive for small technology companies and has worked as an independent financial consultant.

Rob earned his undergraduate degree in biochemistry at McMaster University, earned his MBA at York Business School, and achieved the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter-holder designation in 2002. He has never stopped learning, whether it be about how financial modelling and management can touch on every aspect of a business’s success, how incentives affect human responses in business and elsewhere, or how emerging businesses can address the myriad of challenges facing modern society.
